69dB

Born in Western Scotland, 69db joins London in the 8O's while the Acid House wave hits England. Still a student at the Leeds Jazz College, he yields to the attraction of repetitive beats and embarks for ten years on an adventure with itinerary sound system Spiral Tribe.

Astral migrations, exchanges, collaborations, alliances, 'music is a universal language'. Evolving at the core of the ''Rave'' scene, setting up his live act in every ''party'', 69db cultivates the ephemeral, experimenting a different sound at every event.
As soon as 1997, 69db bonds with Expressillon via Le Perce-oreille (vinyl department) who becomes his ally for the most diabolical experimentations, juggling with chaotic rhythms, unbridled but controlled. At the dawn of the new millenium, 69db claims multiple musical facets with ''In Dub Technic'' (Expressillon), first solo instrumental album and genuine dub-electro-break opus far from 4/4 and other binary movements in effect on all dance floors. 69db then multiplies collaborations and notably links with renowned English-Jamaican toaster Mc Tablloyd who follows him through improvised rhythmic experimentations. Between them a real dialogue is established as shows on their double common album ''Freestyling'' released in 2001 (Expressillon). While keeping up with his solo projects with a new electro-dub album ''Dragoon Dub'' and the Chip Jockey collection, 69db gets involved for a while in the band New Weather before continuing his collaboration with Mc Tablloyd until the production of a new album ''Bedroom Mixes From the Soul'' (Expressillon - 2003).

Improvised music, dear to 69db, is mostly suitable for video illustration \ his first DVD project thus come to life with video artist Dr No during Summer 2004. Stroboscopic pictures for stroboscopic music \ ''Armchair Escapism'' acts as a domestic escape from omnipresent Babylon. The same year, two records, revealing the definitely positive influence of 69db on a certain alternative scene, are released : the triple CD " Best Of Network23 1993-1996" (Expressillon) where 69db and Crystal Distortion's musical essence particularly show and the DVD " World Traveller Adventures " (Uwe) retracing, in parts, the Spiral Tribe saga.

69db is some talker ! It is then not surprising to find him still linked to Le Perce-Oreille for a new explosive LP or once again on the Chip Jockey collection in 2005. Then early 2006 he bonds again with Crystal Distortion to form or re-form the R-Zac duo whose best of is in the shops since April 2006.

Still touring all over the world, 69db is currently working on a new project which should blow your ears later in 2008/2009...
