Bangril was born "Daniel Bourguet" in Toulouse. He stayed only five years in this city. After the beginning of schooling at Carmaux in the Tarn, he flies away with his four brothers and sisters, his parents (both teachers) to the Togo. He will grow in this small country of Africa where from he will return at the age of 17. Of this African adolescence, full of indelible souvenirs, he keeps the name " BANGRIL ". It is his Togolese friends who had attributed him this name, whereas he wrote them poems and little songs.
At eighteen years old, to Bédarieux in the Hérault, Bangril meets Zina, the one who will become her partner, the mother of her two daughters and his muse. Head of family from the age of twenty years, it is as craftsman in the building that Bangril feeds his family.
Bangril likes the song from long time ago. His adolescence is rocked by a musical interbreeding between Jimmy Cliff and Graeme Allwright, the Togolese griots and Georges Brassens. From the Renaud's first albums, he likes this artist thanks to whom he discovers the " realistic song ", that of Renaud he even, but also that of his(her) "bosses", from Bruant to François Béranger.
He becomes enlightened then of songs, French songs especially (because of the language) but also songs of any countries, if they give him the shiver. Bangril skims concerts and festivals, listening, reading, organizes concerts. In twenty years he passed his passion to his friends, to his daughters and to his wife. It is with them that he create the association " Les Copains d'Abord " in 1998 (association for the promotion and the development of the song)
With time, Bangril builds its work. He writes and composes his own songs. He is " singer for his friends " but the club of his admirers grows little by little.
In 1999, he creates his first group " Le Vieux Léon " and goes on roads. His daughter Sandra becomes her agent. He abandons the craftsman and becomes professional a singer. He sings then much more the songs of others than his and besides him " Le vieux Léon " (100 years of social songs), he participates in more short-lived shows around the works of Bobby Lapointe, Léo Ferré or Georges Brassens.
Committed citizen (candidate for the cantonal elections in 2004), if Bangril feeds on songs, he also grows rich fights of his muse. Zina is Kabyle. First child of a family of nine children ( with seven boys), she learnt since her childhood that the life is a fight. Militant citizen, engagedon all the fronts, Bangril nicknames her "Kaïna", as princess Kabyle, queen of rebels, symbol of the Berber resistance in the 7è century. Kaïna will become naturally the title of a song of Bangril, then in December, 2003 the title of his first album.
In this first album consisted of ten songs of Bangril and a song of Lény Escudéro, we find all the universe and all the influences of Bangril. The poetry and the realism, the tenderness and the revolt, the reggae and the waltz, the swing and the ska.
If Bangril has waited before recording its works, it is because he missed the ideal orchestra. The meeting with Spi alias Jean-Michel Poisson (leader of the groups Les Naufragés and OTH) is going to be determining. But if the energy of the punk ex is very present, it is well and truly an album of songs, where the emotion is for the meeting (with both girls of Bangril Cécile and Sandra in choirs and retorts).
From 2004, Bangril is going to hawk its songs of stages in stages, with a called show " Songs ... Your Papers! ".
It is after 5 years of concerts that a real musical team around Bangril built up itself. Henceforth Bangril is more than Daniel Bourguet's pen name.
Bangril became a group, with an original sound, identified by the varied and diverse influences of the musicians which compose it. It is the tréséro and a guitarist Carmona Philippe who takes the musical direction), the arrangements and few compositions, even if the influence of Spi remains dominating
Of the coherence and the maturity of this team is going to born a new album, appeared in May, 2009, with the title " Un monde si beau... ". Texts and most of the melodies are from Bangril, but the spirit of the group is present more than ever. The choice to register rhythmic way " live ", to find at the exit of the studio a sound, an energy and an emotion the closest possible to that of the concerts
