Christophe Leloil

After studying at the Caen Jazz Action and the Basse-Normandie CNR, which he left in
1996 with a prize, Christophe Leloil quickly became a driving force for jazz in Caen. He has led various bands, inviting musicians to play with them: Michael Felberbaum in 1997, Boris Blanket in 1999, Emmanuel Bex in 1998 and 2000, and Peter King in 2000. He has participated in the European big band at the La Villette Jazz Festival with Maria Schneider, worked with Albert Mangelsdorff in the Franco-German Jazz Ensemble (Nancy Jazz Pulsations) and with Antoine Herve for the UMJ concert (Paris Jazz Festival). He has also played in Africa with the Zama Sou Noogo Band and participated in the American tour of Fred Galliano’s Electronic Septet. From March 2000 to July 2003 he played with the Funk Uranus Bruyant band in the leading street, jazz and contemporary music festivals (New Morning, La Defense Jazz, "Couleur Café" in Brussels, Mardi Gras Meeting in Washington, Manapany Festival Bay in the Reunion, etc..). At the same time he is pursuing his career as a sideman in the OUT FRONT sextet and the Sauzay/Leloil 4tet. He is firmly committed to L’Enclencheur and Raphaël Imbert’s Nine Spirit, which make him an absolute must for jazz in Marseille. And if that’s not enough, he contributed to the soundtrack of the TV films Malaterre and Liberata by writer and director Philippe Carrese and collaborated with the German pianist "Siggy" Kessler and the Namasté Group!.
