“Daunik Lazro is a musician of great integrity who has remained faithful to the aesthetics he chose at the beginning of his career. This implies a spontaneity and and lyricism in his playing, an expressiveness that is to be considered as his testimony and that can only come about by free improvisation (this applies to the cry as well as the song), and listening to himself as well as others. His saxophone touches the passions, in echo to the incantations of Ayler or the dynamics of Ornette Coleman; but make no mistake, it also conveys the utmost tenderness.”
Jean-Paul Ricard (in “LeDictionnaire du jazz”, Ed. Laffont)
