Dr.Madd Vibes

Angelo Moore, lead-singer of Fishbone, is a really amazing character. Anybody who has already seen them on stage will recall it for long , carried away by the cheer lunacy of one of the most extraordinary live band ever, able to set a venue on fire as quick as a flash.
But Dr Madd Vibe is at least as surprising. What used to be a vocal playtime is from now on a full band, in which Angelo’s flow is supported by a discreet but skilful instrumental section.

Angelo Moore has always been keen on writing, defining himself as a poet and an activist before being a musician. Racism, social erosion and human relationships are so many subjects that inspired him for Fishbone’s lyrics. It’s not a coincidence : his childhood in the poor suburbs of Los Angeles gave him a solid experience of all that. That’s where Angelo Moore developped his own vision of the Black Power, the american policy and the excesses of the music background. Some heartrending lines, strong enough not to need any musical coating. It’s in this state of mind that Angelo Moore gave birth to Dr Madd Vibe in 1995, as an ultimate outlet to all those things he wants to claim and which sometimes tend to disappear under the crash of instruments.

A book (« Dr.Madd Vibe’s Comprehensive Linkology ») and three records of « pur » spoken words later, in the line of Marc Smith (founder of the Slam movement) and Saul Williams, Angelo Moore puts on the Dr Madd Vibe’s suit again for another spontaneous vocabulary eruption. But this time he decides to accompany himself on the guitar, the organ, and the trumpet, widening the sound palette of Medicine Cabaret without betraying the spoken word spirit. Committed, funny, acid,…his texts are like little bleeding incisions that Dr Madd Vibe practises daily, without really worrying about the possible post-operative complications.
