Pianist composer and arranger born in 1956, he quits his Maths studies to become a jazz musician. Discovering contemporary music and traditional music, he leaves for Africa in 1979 and 1981 to study rhythm and balafon.
Joins Lyon association ARFI in 1981 and takes part in the foundation of AGEM in Grenoble.
From 1985 to 2003, he performs wtih Louis Sclavis in festivals all around the globe.
Takes part in the foundation of "LA FORGE", collective of composers and improvisers of the Rhône- Alpes region, for which he is also an artistic manager. Beside the amateur musicians ensemble "Micromegas" he conducts for 10 years, he will initiate several creations by this collective, namely "Cartoune" (cine concert), “Portraits des Femmes”, Trio Non Tempéré, “La Grande Forge”, etc …
In December 2009, François Raulin presents his new solo project “Ostinato”, which is released on CD (Label Forge). Currently, François Raulin is at work on two creations, one planned for 2010 with Stephan Oliva, “Little Nemo”, and the second one planned for 2011, about the character of Erik Satie, with comedian Gilles Arbona and seven other musicians.
