Guaka was born in 2003 in Bordeaux, France, from the meeting of four musicians coming from different cultural backgrounds. Guaka's music is based on a great variety of sounds and rhythms an obvious mirror from the different cultural origins of each member. Far from any confinement of a defined musical style.
Starting 2008, the traditional rhythms are mixed with amplified music such ska, reggae, funk, punk, salsa and particularly rock music. Their lyrics are engaged with the political reality of South America and elsewhere but they talk as well about imaginary characters created in the band's mind.
