Emilie Hanak is the sweet songwriting talent behind Milkymee, an ever-evolving and unpolished French artist based, in the past 7 years, in Sweden. In 2006, Milkymee put out “Songs for Herr Nicke”, an excellent although intimate record on T-A. While Milkymee's voice combines raw intimacy and chalky confidence, her melodies and arrangements are both voluptuous and ethereal.
After many years spent in the wilderness travelling throughout Europe and writing good songs, Emilie Hanak is now back in France for a while. She has composed and written the original soundtrack for "Domaine," a feature film by Patric Chiha, starring Béatrice Dalle and Isaïe Sultan. "Domaine" was part of the Official Selection of the 2009 Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica, Venice, Italy.
Her second opus, "To all the Ladies in the Place, With Style and Grace" - named after a Notorious B.I.G track - is an EP dedicated to a series of female figures close to her heart: her mother; the American radical feminist Valerie Solanas; the girl next door; her childhood lost friend Nathalie Brown; her friend Marie-Astrid Michel; her girlfriend, and other women she likes or dislikes.
