Ranking among the most prolific underground artists of South Africa, musician, DJ, renowned turntablist, arranger, and producer, Sibot has been discovered by the African Dope Label. After many discographic collaborations (Real Estate Agent, Max Normal Tv, Constructus Corporation..), he released his first album -In with the old- in 2007, immediately relayed in Europe by Jarring Effects with the Cape Town Beats compilation. His universe is abundant, providing simple and heady melodies combined with bass music, electro and hip hop rhytmics. So that his last album rapidly reached top ranking in the Amon Tobin, Ghislain Poirier or Mary Anne Hobbs (BBC1) playlists, in addition to warming welcome in the specialized press.
Fortified by this new craze, Jarring Effects decided to keep going on this adventure and will release in May the first EP of the Sibot's new project, Playdoe that he shares with a certain Spoek Mathambo, MC known for his many innovative projects in South Africa. Spoek Mathambo started by the side of MC Watkin Tudor Jones ( aka MC Totally Rad aka Max. Normal), made a remarkable appearance on the album « electrified » of the parisian Interlope, and he rapidly became an independant force of the south african hip hop stage. Today, also known as Kool Disco Okapi or Royal Disko Knife, Spoek earned himself a name as ndebele elektro folk singer and rapper and also as fashionistra, troublemaker or video productor through many projects such as Electricoon and Sweat X.
