Opus 33 by Joseph Haydn, written in 1781, is the first collection which he names «quartet», (quartett, in German).At the start of the genre, around 1760, it was called "divertimento".

Young formation coming from Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon and from Haute Ecole de musique de Genève, the string quartet Opus 33 meet in Lyon in Sept 2004. Remarked by Gabor Takacs, they decide to train and practice by his side through a Postgrade courseat Haute Ecole de Genève. During Master classes (Festival de quatuor en pays de Fayence, Rencontres d’Ivry sur Seine) they receive encouragements from quartet Parisii and brass quintet «concert impromptu».
Performing regularly (chapelle Matisse Vence, Lacoste Lubéron, Paris église suédoise (18th arrdt), Grasse, Aix en Provence, Genève...) they compose a repertoire with a contrasted sound range spanning from early 18th century to contemporary creations.
