Tambour Battant: Ben and Nico, both drummers, could not have better choosen their name. Having tasted the power of RATM, experimentation of Sonic Youth, the hedonism of Daft Punk (Da Funk period / Rollin '& Scratchin') and the boomers of hip-hop; it's in free parties around Avignon (focused on Drum & Bass at that time), that these 19 years old two high school friends have joined the electronic revolution: "We ran buy Yamaha because we always had the approach to compose. That's why we always recognized ourselves in the live act. From a basic rhythm, you can do everything. " The stage was our first and main attraction". Tambour Battant is not a studio band, in the strict sense used in the electronic production world.
Installed in Paris the last few years, they had their first stage on February 20 of 2004. At the beginning, they both create alone on their side and then deliver into a common pool. With practice came a true complementarity, where the desires and ideas are harmonized with little compromise.
About featurings, they come from the Jamaican tradition to join the UK nu-sckool, preferring melody more than taosting. As polyvalent musicians (guitar, keyboards ...) and creators of FX Music (a music design company), driving several lyrical and more traditional hip-hop projects, the duo doesn't put all their eggs in the same basket. They sign an interesting first album, craft, dynamic and contemporary, announcing a transition route.
