T.A.N.K. (Think of A New Kind)

2006-2007 : Dark Signs - The beginnings of the band T.A.N.K / Dark Signs, first line-up of French Metal band T.A.N.K
It's in 2006 in the Parisian suburb that the future founders of the metal band T.A.N.K (Think of A New Kind) meet each other. Called Dark Signs at this time, the band includes Eddy Chaumulot and Symheris on guitars. The main influence of the young combo oscillates between Children of Bodom and In Flames.
Early 2007 and after the successive departures of their acolytes, Eddy Chaumulot and Symheris look for new members. Yann Marie (Livarkahil) arrives behind the drums, while Rémi (bass) and Raf Pener (vocals), lend a hand for a concert as support band for LIK ... ID.
2007 - 2008: Birth of the band T.A.N.K - First EP
Also guitarist of metalcore band Admiral's Arms (and currently in K.A), Raf definitely joins T.A.N.K as lead signer for a 2 tracks EP, recorded by Guillaume Mauduit at Studio Sainte-Marthe in Paris.
The reviews about TANK (name given to this EP), exceed all the band's expectations. French revelation for the famous magazine ROCK HARD, T.A.N.K is seen as a "future reference" (French Metal). The solos of the very young Symheris and Raf's powerful guttural voice attract the attention. Plus, the song Brother in Arms quickly goes around the Internet.
More motivated than ever, and joined by Olivier d'Aries (Crystal Wall) on bass, T.A.N.K goes on stage to defend its music.
2008 - 2009: T.A.N.K to the Wacken Open Air
After promising performance throughout France, Yann is replaced in early 2008 by Clement Rouxel on drums. Since then spotted by famous French metal bands such as One-Way Mirror or Zuul FX, he completes the final line-up of T.A.N.K.
T.A.N.K plays its metal all over France and Belgium, where its enthusiasm and aggressiveness on stage are welcomed by the public, webzines, but also the bands it opens for: "A very good band which provides a huge energy on stage" (Werther, Dagoba bass player - Interview Metal France).
The quintet wins the Metallian Battle Contest in Lyon (France). T.A.N.K is then powered on stages of festivals such as the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany or the Metal Camp in Slovenia, playing with famous international bands such as Machine Head, In Flames, Down and former Pantera singer Phil Anselmo...
Then, time has come for T.A.N.K to record its first album.
2010 - 2011 : The Burden of Will - First album
Return to Studio Sainte-Marthe with Guillaume Mauduit, Think of A New Kind records its first album: The Burden of Will. 13 tracks LP including featurings with Guillaume Bideau (MNEMIC, One-Way Mirror, former Scarve) and Steve "Zuul" Petit (Zuul FX), the performance of this first opus is unanimous for medias. Released in June 2010 and distributed by Season of Mist, press and webzine agree to acknowledge: "A major debut album" (Noémy Langlais - RockOne), "a slap with a terrible sound that will make an impression [...] as good as live as on record" (Sven Letourneur - Hard Rock Mag) or "a terrible first opus, dynamic and catchy" (Greg - VS-Webzine).
The band makes its promotion especially with the music videos of Beautiful Agony and Brother in Arms, or the live video at Wacken Open Air. While composing its second album, T.A.N.K continues to promote The Burden of Will, touring in France and abroad including the Basinfirefest in Czech Republic, or opening for reknown metal bands such as Sybreed, Hacride or Gorod.
2012 - 2013 : Spasms of Upheaval - T.A.N.K second album
T.A.N.K records its second album, Spasms of Upheaval, at Dome Studio in Angers (France). During 1 month, the band polishes up more personal and accomplished songs with producer David Potvin (One-Way Mirror, Lyzanxia, Phaze 1...).
Featuring Jon Howard of Canadian band Threat Signal, Inhaled music video quickly overtakes 60 000 views on Youtube. Reviews and interviews in the press and webzines, in France or abroad, are almost unanimous: Spasms of Upheaval confirms the hopes placed in T.A.N.K after their first album.
For Think of A New Kind, 2013 rhymes with new album, but also new guitarist. Indeed, the group has to part from Eddy Chaumulot. Guitarist Nils Courbaron (Lyr Drowning) gets into line for the promotion of the new opus.
