WAVERLY LIES NORTH is a French band formed in Abbeville (Somme). The “Waverly initiative” is born out of the joint efforts of Julien and Edouard Méhay, two Metal enthusiasts, whose music is inspired by Symphonic, Thrash or Heavy Metal but in the same time by classical music and movie scores . Thus, the “Waverly initiative” is the accomplishment of
2 long years of effort, while they composed and recorded the songs for “A Soul in the Void” in their own studio.
The line up has long been erratic, and finally got stable first with the introduction of Yann Hollier as singer and Guillaume Hollier on bass guitar, and later on with the recruiting of a lead guitar, Bruno Poidevin. The band had to endure another change, in July 2013, Guillaume Hollier deciding to quit for artistic divergences reasons.
Jerome Pecquery, an experienced musician and long time Metal enthusiast, fills in the shoes of Guillaume as bass player.
The musical themes dealt with by WAVERLY LIES NORTH are the preternatural and the haunting, which are preponderant to the band’s musical creativity.
