“Mardjane is a dream maker; she weaves dreams that feed your imagination, taking you beyond all frontiers.
They dissolve in an instant, leaving traces subtle as bubbles bursting in sunshine
Her music, simple and poignant, transports us into her universe.
The cello is an echo of her voice, she moves to the heartbeat of drums, her poetry takes form in the instrumental mix. The music captures the words of Mardjane, her intimate thoughts, her world view; words that tell stories, always different, always surprising, woven in the magic of her sound.
Her eyes reveal the mystery of her origins; her music uncovers the journeys of all souls.”
(Catherine Catella)
Coming from a family of musicians of iranian origin, country whose name carries clever persan music, and also more largly from around the mediterranea, Mardjane is most surprising.
Armed by influences which rocked but also impregnated her with more “actual” musics, she sings in French language texts she writes with her words; her songs travel between dreams, daily life and surrealistic flights of poetry.
With the help of PACA Regional Council which allocates her in 2012 a creation financial support, Mardjane releases her first Opus « La ville et le vent… ».
She unveils, with her songs, a multiform universe, so personal, almost indefinable, both poetic, urban, unexpected…
Bejin Chemirani, her brother (Trio Chemirani, Sting, Oneira, Titi Robin…), signs the arrangements.
On stage, with a cellist, Guillaume Saurel, a percussionist, Thomas Bourgeois and Jeremy Perrouin at the machines, tones are sometimes tensed, and sometimes imprinted by generous and feminin curves. Mardjane’s voice, rich with cultures from here and there, which we already appreciated at various times, is here showing all its dimension and its brilliance.
